This all-ivory tonal Beni Ourain is the definitive version of the most iconic Moroccan rug design. Hand-knotted by Berber weavers from the Middle Atlas mountains using entirely undyed natural wool, the design is a full-field chevron zigzag, symmetrical V-shaped lines in warm greige converging at a central diamond medallion that anchors the entire composition. The pattern reveals itself only through the tonal contrast between the warmer greige lines and the brighter natural ivory pile, no dye, no added color, just two shades of wool doing the work.

The lower field softens into a quieter texture as the chevrons open outward toward the fringe, giving the rug a sense of movement from top to bottom. In direct light the greige lines are crisp and graphic. In softer light they almost dissolve into the pile, leaving the composition to be felt as texture rather than seen as pattern.
